We have only taken the route from Bowen Ranch.Īn SUV is definitely recommended when driving to Bowen Ranch. There are several approaches to the springs. It literally comes out next to the Creek and there are several rustic man made rock pools cascading down from the springs itself. The reason that Deep Creek Hotsprings is one of our favorite natural springs is its beauty. We try to add it to our itinerary anytime we are near the area. We have visited Deep Creek Hotsprings many times during trips to southern california. Don't wait til it's dark to leave as trail too dangerous. If you can physically do it then go for it. However everything he said seemed plausible. he said lots of things one of which how visitors disappear and are never found! It may have just been scare tactic. While I really didn't feel totally scared I felt wary. I did have a local who sat with us and he was very impaired. If you're female I don't recommend going alone. If you want adult beverages you can take but you still need the water. We packed in 12 bottles of water and lots snacks. You have to walk through almost waist high ice cold water so make sure your backpack is high riding. I did have to sit on behind and scoot over some areas as ledge so steep and narrow. There were some very wired and unsavory people there as well. There were mostly people minding their business. The hot spring we were in was HOT but felt great. At 60 years I was fearful I could not do but I did it!!! For sure only for adults. Going down very steep and at some points dangerous trail. The springs are clothing optional and I would not suggest kids or elderly could swing this hike. If you are prepared the hike is worth it. San Bernardino is darker and hardly has street lights. GPS cut out again on the way out and took around 20 minutes to get it going. You want to get off the rocky dirt unpaved road before the dark. I suggest that you get out there by 8-9am and leave the springs by 2-3pm. There is no tree cover and the sun can be intense. The hike back was steep and challenging since our muscles had been so relaxed in the springs. Once you get down to the icking enjoy! My friend and I spent the day going from the hot springs to jumping in the cold river. The hike down is steep but all down hill, so a person can be thinking.ohh this isn't bad. Half the battle in this trek is actually finding the ranch. They guys who take entrance fees are super nice. Before you get to 6100 you will see a huge white tarp sign that says open on the left hand side of the road. Have a good car with good suspension that sits a little higher up. This road is a rocky unpaved road that goes for about 6 miles to get to the ranch. Put this GPS address into your google maps and print it on paper 6100 Bowen Ranch Road. GPS may cut out and it may try to drop you at the 6 mile trail head. The route I suggest is the 3.5 mile trail from Bowen Ranch. One trail is a 6 mile in and 6 mile out route. There are two ways to get to the springs.
